Sean & Claire’s Wedding at Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel
By Rebekah Morecroft, wedding photographer documenting elegant hotel weddings across the North West
Sean and Claire had the most beautiful winter wedding! The day before had been cold and rainy, but on the morning of their big day, the sun came out and made everything feel extra special.
Their wedding was held at Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel, a lovely venue with lovely gardens and a beautifully decorated ceremony room.
When I arrived, Claire was in the bridal suite getting ready with her parents and bridesmaids. Everyone was excited, and the room was full of laughter.
Meanwhile, Sean turned up in style! He arrived with his three groomsmen in two shiny Nissan GT-Rs—a surprise from Claire! He looked so happy, and I took some pictures of the boys with the cars and a few relaxed portraits outside in the sunshine.
The ceremony was full of love and emotion. Sean even wiped away a tear before Claire walked down the aisle. There were happy tears, smiles, and lots of laughter throughout the ceremony.
After the ceremony, I took some lovely pictures of Sean, Claire, and their children. Then we gathered their family, bridesmaids, and friends for group shots. The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow, which was perfect for their couple portraits in the gardens. As a Wedding Photographer, I love capturing these quiet moments.
Inside, the reception room looked magical. It had a soft blue glow, and each table had a beautiful centrepiece made by Claire herself.
Guests gathered in the reception as the speeches began with the Mother of the Bride and the Maid of Honour, the bride’s younger sister. Their words were full of love and humour, setting a warm tone for the evening. Next, the couple’s oldest son and daughter shared the sweetest messages, showing just how deeply they love both of their parents—it was a very touching moment. Finally, the bride and groom told heartfelt stories about their deep love for each other and their four children. As a Wedding Photographer, capturing the emotions of the day reminds me why I love my work.
After guests enjoyed a hearty northern meal of hot pot and shepherd’s pie, the evening celebrations kicked off. The couple then stepped into the spotlight to cut not just one cake, but also a special fruit cake made by the bride’s nanna for the groom. Once the cakes were cleared away, the newlyweds shared their first dance, setting the stage for everyone to join them on the dance floor and keep the party going all night long.
Claire and Sean, thank you for letting me capture your beautiful day. From the sunshine to the smiles (and Sean’s tears!), it was such a joy. Wishing your family, a life full of love, laughter, and happiness.
