Some people will say I over planned my trips abroad. I find locations I like to visit and then work out the best way to see as much as possible, possibly because I know I won’t return to this location again and I want to capture as much of it as possible. This was definitely the case with my trip to New York City, I was scouting many locations where I could get beautiful pictures to capture this breath-taking city. However, through my research, I still hadn’t come across this location but then one day prior to my trip my sister sent me an Instagram post of this image. Straightaway I knew I needed to find where this location was. Not an easy task, but honestly I love Google Maps because I often have been able to find sometimes quite remote locations and that was the case with this.
I can’t remember if it was my first morning in New York, but I do remember getting up early and taking the boat down the east River toward the Brooklyn Bridge. I planned to go early, so there'll be less crowds as I started to realise this was a very popular location for people to capture this image. What is interesting is most people think it is the Brooklyn Bridge, but in fact, it is the Manhattan Bridge which is a stunning bridge, but because the Manhattan Bridge stands next to one of the most famous bridges (The Brooklyn Bridge) in the world, its’ magnificence can be easily overlooked.
