There is a classic beauty to a traditional church wedding, vows spoken before God, family gathered in witness, and moments of quiet emotion woven into joyful celebration. Lez and Amanda’s wedding at St Chad’s Church in Rochdale was filled with heartfelt moments, family warmth, and personal touches that made the day unmistakably theirs.
Morning Preparations at The Royal Toby Hotel
The morning began at The Royal Toby Hotel, where Amanda and her bridesmaids shared laughter, anticipation, and quiet reflection before dressing. Green was woven beautifully throughout the day; from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the groom’s suit, the wedding car, and even the sponge of the cake. A thoughtful detail that reflected Amanda’s favourite colour and brought personality into every part of the celebration.
Meanwhile, Lez and their sons prepared with calm excitement. These pre-ceremony hours often hold a raw beauty that can be easily overlooked, and I always ensure these fleeting moments are captured naturally and unobtrusively.
A Traditional Christian Ceremony at St Chad’s Church, Rochdale
Church weddings carry a depth that is impossible to replicate elsewhere. As guests gathered outside St Chad’s Church in the Rochdale sunshine, there was a sense of anticipation and joy.
A few unexpected moments added to the story of the day; traffic delays and roadworks meant Amanda arrived later than planned, and when it came time to walk down the aisle, her music would not play. Yet she stepped forward with grace and composure, choosing joy over perfection. It was a beautiful reminder that the heart of a wedding lies not in flawless execution, but in the covenant being made.
Inside the church, the ceremony was filled with tenderness. Amanda was given away by her brother, who had confidently promised he would not cry, only to be overcome with pride and emotion. When Amanda’s own eyes filled with tears during the vows, Lez gently reached for a tissue, a quiet and intimate gesture of care.
Their two sons stood beside them as rings were exchanged, and later the vicar invited the entire family, including their granddaughter, forward for a blessing. It was a profound and faith-filled moment that placed family at the very centre of their marriage.
Family Portraits at St Chad’s Church
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside with white confetti, filling the church grounds with colour and celebration. We then captured formal family portraits, something I always encourage couples to prioritise, particularly at traditional Christian weddings where generations gather in one place.
These portraits become heirlooms, preserving not just faces but relationships.
Couple Portraits at Broadfield Park
For their wedding party and couple portraits, we walked across to Broadfield Park. The red bandstand created a romantic and classic backdrop, perfectly complementing the beautiful feel of their day.

A Joyful Wedding Reception Celebration
The reception was filled with laughter, dancing, and unrestrained joy. Classics like Y.M.C.A., Macarena, and Cha Cha Slide brought guests to the dance floor, and when “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” played, friends lifted Amanda into the air for a moment of pure celebration.
Lez and Amanda shared a beautiful first dance, followed by a warm family dance with their children and granddaughter continuing the thread that ran throughout the entire day: faith, family, and deep-rooted love.
