Bea and Abraham’s Engagement Shoot at Fletcher Moss Gardens, Manchester

By Rebekah Morecroft, a Wedding Photographer specialising in traditional and classic weddings

I have known Bea and Abraham for a number of years, so when Bea asked me to photograph their engagement session in the middle of winter, I could not say no. Capturing two friends celebrating such a joyful moment felt like a true privilege.

Their engagement shoot took place at Fletcher Moss Botanical Garden in Didsbury, Manchester, a location I adore for outdoor photography. A Fletcher Moss engagement shoot in Manchester is always special, especially during the quieter winter months when the gardens feel peaceful and full of soft natural light. As a wedding photographer based in Greater Manchester, I always enjoy photographing engagement sessions in beautiful outdoor locations like this.

The session started at 10 o’clock in the morning, which might feel early on a Saturday, but the timing created a soft, enchanting glow. The winter sun was low in the sky, just past sunrise, and combined with the mist weaving through the trees, it gave a magical backdrop for their portraits. Fletcher Moss has so many hidden corners and beautiful light, and I arrived early to scout the perfect spots. One area stood out immediately, an almost secret grove of trees with sunlight filtering through, and I knew this would be the perfect place to begin Bea and Abraham’s Fletcher Moss engagement shoot in Manchester.

Stunning Traditional Outfits and Winter Light

Bea and Abraham arrived in traditional African outfits, looking radiant despite the cold morning. The winter chill did not dampen their energy, and it was a joy to see them embrace the moment and celebrate their engagement through the camera lens.

During the shoot, we explored different areas of Fletcher Moss, stopping whenever the light or mist created a special scene. The connection between Bea and Abraham was natural and effortless, allowing me to capture both candid and posed moments that reflect their personalities and relationship.

Parsonage Gardens: Elegant Outdoor Portraits

After their first outfit, Bea and Abraham changed into their second outfits, and we walked across to Parsonage Gardens, just opposite Fletcher Moss. These curated gardens provided stunning backdrops for the rest of their session, offering beautiful textures, greenery, and natural light for their portraits.

We also took some individual portraits, which I love to include. These give couples a chance to be themselves in front of the camera and allow me to capture something extra special for their wedding gallery. Engagement sessions are not only about beautiful couple photos, they are also an opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera, so that on their wedding day, they can relax and enjoy the process fully.

Capturing Joy and Connection During a Fletcher Moss Engagement Shoot

It was wonderful to see Bea and Abraham enjoying this special moment together. The morning light, winter mist, and serene gardens created a natural, romantic environment. Every photograph told a story of their love, their culture, and their shared excitement for their upcoming wedding.

I feel so honoured to capture this chapter of Bea and Abraham’s journey and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this year. These engagement portraits are a celebration in their own right, a chance to capture their personalities, their connection, and the joy of this special moment together. Every smile, laugh, and embrace from this session will be cherished for years to come. A Fletcher Moss engagement shoot in Manchester offers such beautiful natural surroundings, and sessions like this are always a joy to photograph, especially in peaceful locations like Fletcher Moss and nearby Parsonage Gardens.
