Jurassic Coast cliffs Dorset, England at Sunset

In the summer of 2020 I had a specific intention - to capture the stunning beauty of Lulworth Cove during sunset, with the light highlighting every detail of the Cove. But things didn't go as planned.

When I climbed up to the top of the cliffs above Lulworth, I realized that the sunset wasn't highlighting the cliffs in the best direction. I was disappointed, but I knew that as an experienced landscape photographer, I couldn't give up. Instead, I decided to turn around and look for the light elsewhere.

That's when I saw the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast lit up in a beautiful, light. The view was breathtaking - the sparkling water of the cove, the rugged rocks jutting out of the water, and the sun setting in the distance. I felt like I was on top of the world, and every sense was heightened - the salty sea air, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, and the taste of the salt on my lips.

But I had to be careful - to get the perfect shot, I had to fight my fear of heights and walk along a narrow cliff edge with very little place to move. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I felt like I was narrowly avoiding disaster with every step. One wrong move, and I would have fallen to my death.

Finally, I found my spot and set up my tripod. I sat down and breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that I wasn't going to die, well, at least until I had to climb back down. It took some time to actually enjoy the experience and appreciate the views, and for my heart to stop racing.

In the end, I didn't capture the picture I was originally planning for, but I was proud of myself for not giving up. I fought my fear of heights and walked along a narrow cliff to capture a beautiful photo of the Jurassic Coast at sunset. It was an exhilarating experience, and I knew that I had overcome a huge challenge - not just as a photographer, but as a person.
