Misty Trees at Dove Stones Reservoir in the Peak District, England

For sometime now I had been hoping to capture this kind of scene. Mist being trapped in the trees. I sometimes wonder if I was going to be able to ever capture a scene of mist over water, let alone mist dancing through trees, this is why this picture means so much to me.

How it came about was at the last minute my family and I took a trip up to Dovestones, one of our favourite locations to walk. As soon as we left the car we could see the low mist covering the hills surrounding the reservoir.

There was a part of me that was excited for this scene, let alone in awe of what was around us, we took a leisurely walk stopping as we went along capturing different scenes of the mist on and around the reservoir.

Almost every trip we go to Dovestones we end up at a group of rocks that my stepson loves to climb, and as he was playing the mist had slightly dispersed from the water, I then noticed the trees on the other side of the reservoir still had fog cutting through the trees. My heart was so excited by the scene. The scene that I had been hoping one day to capture was right before my eyes.

Capturing the mist cutting through the trees was amazing to see and a dream come true in my photography journey. This was my first experience of this type of scene, but hopefully not my last.

It was definitely one of our family’s favourite moments together in nature, so much beauty was around us that day.
