While learning photography, I on a number of occasions went into Manchester City centre to capture the different city structures.

I had been aware that lots of people took pictures of the arches near the Manchester Central library, however, even though this picture in fact looks like it was taken from that spot, as I was exploring with a friend I noticed another set of arches on the other side behind the library and I found these a more engaging shot for me.

Also, there were less people around meaning it was easier to capture the archers without any distractions from people walking through. Taking the shot was only part of the journey in creating this picture.

The next stage was how I decided to edit the image. Most people keep these pictures quite dark, but what I like about this picture, was how I actually edited the image. I liked how by lighting the arches, it created a different feel to what is normally taken.
